The Instruction for Receiving Blessings from the Statue of Guru Rinpoche

When giving blessings with the statue of Guru Rinpoche, the lama places a blessed statue of Guru Rinpoche on the crown of the disciple’s head and asks the disciple to visualize Guru Rinpoche with fierce faith and veneration and to sincerely invoke him, and recite the following verses:

E Ma Ho

Padmasambhava, the Buddha of the three times,

I pray to you with single pointed veneration.

Please purify the obscuration of the three doors of your fortunate disciple,

And bestow the four empowerments which ripen the four kayas.

The path is to practice the development and completion stages and the Great Perfection.

And the fruition is to reach the ultimate expanse of the primordial purity,

At the time of death, the lord the Great Secret, Vajrasattva

Gives the empowerment which brings the realization of reality.

May I (you) come to have the same realization and activities as Guru Rinpoche,

The empowering (statue) is an assembly of the light rays of skillful means and wisdom.

Which then radiate from the four chakras of the statue of Guru Rinpoche,

And then dissolve into me (you), bringing the realization of wisdom.

Finally, Guru Rinpoche melts into my (your) own being our natures become indivisible.

I (You) obtain the ultimate empowerment, the essence of the symbolic empowerment,

The mode of abiding is the basis free from any attainment of empowerment

May I (you) recognize this, your primordial nature, at this very moment. Recite “Guru Kaya Siddhi Om,”

whereby an Om appears at the forehead of Guru Rinpoche.

It radiates white rays and dissolves into one’s own forehead,

Thereby, the obscurations of body having been purified, the vase empowerment of the body is obtained.

Now one is empowered to visualize your body in the form of the deity. Have faith that the seed for the fruit of nirmanakaya has been planted in one’s mind stream.

Recite “Guru Vaga Siddhi Ah,”

whereby an “Ah” emerges at the throat of Guru Rinpoche.

It radiates red rays and dissolves into one’s own throat.

Thereby, the obscurations of speech having been purified, the secret empowerment of speech is obtained.

Now, one is empowered to recite the mantra. Have faith that the seed of the fruit of the sambhogakaya has been planted in one’s mind stream.

Recite “Guru Chitta Siddhi Hum,”

whereby a “Hum” emerges at the heart of Guru Rinpoche.

It radiates blue rays and melts into one’s own heart.

Thereby, the obscurations of mind having been purified, the wisdom empowerment of mind is obtained.

Now one is empowered to practice the Samadhi of mind. Have faith that the seed of the fruit of attaining dharmakaya has been planted in one’s mind stream.

Recite “Guru Sarva Siddhi Hum,”

whereby a “Hrih” emerges at the navel of Guru Rinpoche.

It radiates yellow rays and dissolves into one’s own navel.

Thereby, the obscurations of the equality of the three doors having been purified, the word empowerment of excellent qualities is obtained.

Now one is empowered to practice the path of the Great Perfection. Have faith that the seed of the fruit of svabhavikaya has been planted in one’s mind stream.

Finally, Guru Rinpoche melts into light and dissolves into oneself. Thereby, one is established in the state in which the body, speech and mind of Guru Rinpoche are inseparable from one’s own body, speech, and mind.

Next, recite the verses for aspiration and auspiciousness.

In this way, one may continuously perform self-empowerment or grant empowerment to others; this condensed empowerment is a profound method for blessings.

Samaya! Gya! Gya! Gya! Sealed! Sealed! Sealed! The writings from the hand of Yeshe Tsogyal were established in the words of the Unchanging Life Force by Dorje Dechen Lingpa.
